For anyone whose love for flowers is guiding them towards working as a professional florist.

Courses at Adelaide Floristry School are a pathway into a career as a florist or retail floristry assistant. Study the principles and techniques of floral design, and acquire retail and business management skills.

40 weeks
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00am – 2:30pm

Venue: Adelaide Floristry School, Unit 19/60 Richmond Rd, Keswick

2019 Dates:

Term One: January 29 - April 11
Term Two: April 30 - July 4
Term Three: July 23 - September 26
Term Four: October 15 - December 20
$5,000 plus GST (inclusive of all materials, fresh flowers and sundries)

$6,000 plus GST (inclusive of all materials, fresh flowers and sundries. Course fees are nonrefundable.)

You Will Learn How To:

  • Take Orders, Prepare Briefs and Quotes

  • Select and Identify Flowers

  • Design and Create Large Installations for Festive Events (Valentines Day, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day)

  • Design and Create Wedding Floral Designs (bouquets, corsages, centrepieces, buttonholes, large installations)

  • Design and Create Ceramic and Box Designs

  • Create Single Flower Presentations

  • Use and Care of Professional Tools

  • Retail skills (Customer Service Engagement, Visual Merchandising, Stock Rotation, Marketing Skills)

  • Occupational Health & Safety Policies and Procedures

Core skills requirements include;

  • Strong Communication Skills

  • Creative Flair and a Desire to Learn Principles of Design

  • Refined Motor Skills for Detailed Wiring and Taping

  • Basic Computer Skills

  • Adaptable to Working Indoors and a Cold Environment

  • Comfortable Standing for Extended Periods of Time (Retail and Event Work)

  • Time Management Skills

  • Customer Service Skills

  • Ability to Work Independently, Demonstrate Initiative and Teamwork

  • Ability to Take Responsibility for Learning
